IXORA CAKES
We still couldn’t get how people can order their own wedding cake in such last minute..=) Even only few days before. Oh well, as long they order from us, we are happy to do it of course! However, this weekend has been very hectic since there are a lot of birthdays as well, which is still understandable if it is a last minute thing, since you’re always confused what to get as a present for your friends or families birthday.. right?! =) This weekend is actually the Muslim Ramadhan celebration which means Bali will be so packed with domestic tourists! But because we are in Bali, almost no one orders for Lebaran cakes or parcels. I’m displaying some photos of this weekend’s cakes, tell me what you think.. Everyone was working overtime for the whole Friday, Saturday & Sunday, sometimes we do feel pity because all of the cakes we make, we make with our heart & soul, but then once it got to the event, only lasted for few hours, then it’s gone.. Particularly the decorations, that we make manually with our hands, all just got thrown away.. =( can’t complain though, we do love making them!!! As long they appreciate our wok, we are very happy!!

One of them was kids’ birthday, mother came and showed us the book of her daughter’s current favorite book, I was also in love the theme as I personally like the movie, haven’t read the book yet. We were very excited to make the cake!

This is also another birthday cake that we did a while back, this one was huge! It was for a man that celebrated his 52nd birthday, it was a great party we heard. He had the party in one of the nicest hotel in Seminyak, had an Indonesian artist, well we can say that she’s already very international now. Obviously, his favorite drink is this Remy Martin, that’s why they ordered this cake, not easy to make! It takes a while, patience and even to carry it!

This one is for a wedding, the bride loves lotus flowers and the wedding also has the same theme color as the cake. All made by sugar paste, except the dragonflies though. Lotus is actually one of the most difficult flowers to make with sugar paste, you have to start way in advance, it is very fragile, since you can’t really make it too thick. It is very challenging to make the petals remain like that; blooming position, not falling down nor standing up. Since it is very thin, it can also break easily. But we finally did it and it didn’t break or anything.

This one also for a wedding, it is actually the top cake for mini cakes. I just loved the couple figurines! Normally we make the figurines made of full sugar paste, not with wires. We tried this the first time and it actually turns out to be really cute! Also probably because of the pose, groom proposing the bride, definitely one of our best figurines from the last couple of months.
We just lost our camera today, sad news indeed. Still try to look for it, there are a lot of our cake photos from the last two (2) weeks. We will be busy again next weekend, start of October, we will have 10 wedding cakes on October 3rd, 2009, wow! Will update you then.

Hi,
I was just going through your website, as me & my partner are planning our wedding in Bali in 2011 November…i know its really early to be looking at cakes..but your website is wonderful & each cake is a work of art. I am really blown away by the decorations…obviously the work of a very skillful team. Love every cake…
so now we know where to get our cake from, since we definetely don;t want something that looks like a normal cheesy wedding cake…too sweet & sugary, but something that represents us
Cheers Ankita
